Live Bees
I create my own high-quality queens at my apiary using untreated survivor stock and a process to maximize queen quality. I select for the gentleness we all want in a backyard hive.
I have a limited number of nucleus colonies (nucs) available to my regular lesson clients.
Mated, Laying Queens
Is your hive hopelessly queenless? Add a mated queen and get back on track immediately. My queens are caged only the day you pick them up, so are extra acceptable to the bees.
Prices start at $40 for a caged, marked queen with introduction candy.
Not sure how to introduce your queen? Installation lessons available at extra cost.
Queen Cells and Virgins
Add a ripe queen cell or a virgin queen to your queenless colony and, weather permitting, you get a mated, laying queen in two weeks.
Virgins are marked and cells come with a cell protector.
2 Ripe Cells or 1 marked Virgin $20
Don’t know how to introduce virgins or cells into your colony? Lessons available at extra cost.
Nucs
Deep or (reserve ahead) medium Langstroth and Warre nucleus colonies consisting of food frames, brood frames, bees, and a marked queen are available to regular lesson customers
I also sometimes have swarms available, perfect for a less expensive start or for non-standard hives like Warres or Top Bar hives.
Pricing varies.
